Auve Tech Makes Historic Sale of Autonomous Vehicle MiCa to Japan and Advances Collaboration with BOLDLY

BOLDLY Inc., a subsidiary of SoftBank Corporation, has been actively promoting autonomous transportation initiatives in Japan. Their partnership with Auve Tech has led to the acquisition of MiCa, making BOLDLY the first company worldwide to purchase this state-of-the-art autonomous vehicle. The introduction of MiCa to Japan represents a significant step forward in the development and implementation of autonomous mobility solutions.

Auve Tech, the Estonian-based company specialising in the design and manufacturing of autonomous shuttles, marked a significant milestone in its collaboration with BOLDLY Inc. with the official press day and unveiling of their groundbreaking Level 4 autonomous electric vehicle, MiCa, in Japan on May 16, 2023. The event showcased the cutting-edge features and capabilities of MiCa, generating excitement and anticipation for its deployment in the Japanese market.

The MiCa model, equipped with obstacle avoidance features and Level 4 autonomous capabilities, garnered tremendous attention during the press day. It integrates seven LiDAR sensors and cameras to provide a comprehensive understanding of the vehicle’s surroundings. The advanced technology enables MiCa to detect and navigate around obstacles in real-time, ensuring safe and reliable transportation. The seamless integration of the vehicle’s software with BOLDLY’S operation management platform, “Dispatcher,” through an Application Programming Interface (API) enhances control and coordination for optimised operations.

During the press day, the town of Sakai in Ibaraki Prefecture took a significant step by signing a memorandum of understanding with BOLDLY. This agreement solidifies their plans to purchase MiCa and introduce the vehicle within 2023. The milestone reached through this partnership demonstrates the trust and confidence placed in the joint efforts of Auve Tech and BOLDLY, as they strive to transform public transportation and pave the way for the realisation of Level 4 autonomous mobility services in Japan.

Auve Tech and BOLDLY remain dedicated to the widespread adoption of autonomous technology in Japan. Their joint efforts aim to introduce approximately ten MiCa vehicles by the end of the fiscal year 2023, contributing to the resolution of societal challenges and the realisation of Level 4 autonomous mobility services.
